STRETCHING A PIERCING

The following information is intended as a guide for stretching your own piercings as well as letting you know how we would go about it if you came into the studio for a stretch. We do not charge for stretching piercings if jewellery is purchased off us.

We stock a range of rings, bars, tubes, tunnels and plugs and can order others that you may require. The secret with stretching is to be patient and give your body time to recover in between stretches. Jumping sizes is usually not recommended as you will often damage the piercing and will consequently have to wait longer before you can stretch it again. Sometimes you may even have to go back down a size to allow for recovery before proceeding.

It is not always possible to stretch a piercing in a sensible amount of time at the studio in which case we will give you advice on how to best achieve the stretch. There are lots of ways to increase the size of your piercings, the first method detailed below is the one we use in the studio but other methods may work better for you.

Using an insertion pin

If possible wash the piercing with warm water to ensure the skin is soft and supple. Applying B.P.A for a few days before you come in, can some times help.

Remove the original jewellery and follow through with a lubricated insertion pin. B.P.A even soapy water can be used as a lubricant. Vaseline will do at a pinch but water based lubes are definitely best.

Gently slide the insertion pin through the piercing making sure not to go too fast. The client must give plenty of feedback as to how sore or sensitive the stretch feels. It is best not to be brave or macho as pain is usually a signal that something is wrong. If it starts to hurt or sting a bit, stop pushing the pin and allow the piercing to settle. The tissue will normally relax again and you can then resume pushing the pin through. You may need to stop more than once. The thing is to take it slowly.
